Nate Schanker, a Co-Founder of North American esports organisation M80, has announced his departure from the company.

Announced directly through a personal post across social media, Schanker will leave the company after two years to pursue new opportunities.

Schanker has nearly a decade of experience in social media and talent management. Before joining M80 at the end of 2022, he co-founded social media platform SWOT and worked as the Head of Social Media for the lifestyle and gaming brand XSET.

M80 is a US-based organisation that was founded by Marco Mereu, who previously worked as the Chief Operating Officer at XSET. M80 competes in VALORANT, Rainbow Six: Siege, Counter-Strike and eNASCAR.

The esports team made headlines last year when it raised $3m (~£2.43m) in a seed investment round and announced tennis star Daniil Medvedev as co-owner of the organisation.

Earlier in September, M80 partnered with the cryptocurrency software platform Exodus as the team aimed to become a bridge for gamers and innovation from Web2 to Web3. Aside from Exodus, M80 also counts on the support of brands such Zowie, Secretlab, Aimlab and energy bar company RawQ, among others.

“It’s been an honour to help co-found and grow M80 into one of the fastest-growing esports organizations in North America,” said Schanker in a post on X.

“I’m grateful for the amazing team, players, and the experiences we’ve shared along I’ve made the decision to pursue a new opportunity that I am very excited to announce soon. Extremely hyped and looking forward to what the future holds.”

Whilst it has not been announced what Schanker’s next venture will be, a post by Mereu on social media possibly alludes to being something outside of esports.

ESI Ranking System
We’ve created a ranking system to help you quickly know how good each gambling platform is. As gamblers ourselves, we know which factors matter most to you, so we follow a best-in-class methodology to test each one with no stone unturned. Once done, we then rank each platform based on the following tiers:
  • A-Tier High-quality sites that deliver a top experience every time. They boast strong performance, nice features, and reliable support, but are just shy of perfection.
  • B-Tier Solid platforms that are worth a spin. They’re safe, fun, and functional, but may be lacking advanced features or have minor drawbacks.
  • S-Tier Reserved for elite operators only. These go well beyond the norm with lucrative bonuses, rewarding promotions, lightning-fast payouts, and a flawless experience overall.
