Esports production company and event organiser PGL has acquired game server provider Fragnet.

Fragnet will continue to operate independently. However, according to a release, Fragnet will now gain the backing of PGL, which includes utilising the company’s industry expertise and gaining added support from PGL’s operational framework.

Fragnet is a game server hosting solutions company that offers custom servers for a variety of esports and casual titles, including Counter Strike 2, Call of Duty and more. The provider offers low-latency server solutions for both casual players and competitive players.

As detailed in a release, the addition of the provider to PGL’s portfolio won’t affect existing customers who use Fragnet’s services, as the provider will continue to provide server hosting solutions to users.

PGL has become a prominent tournament organiser within the esports landscape since its inception in 2004. The event organiser has hosted multiple tier-one esports events across Counter-Strike and Dota 2, including this year’s PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen.

In August this year, PGL recently acquired several assets of a web-based competitive arena service called Esportal. In other news, PGL also secured partnerships with Chinese Tournament operator Perfect World, esports betting service provider Oddin.gg and data analytics company Shikenso Analytics.

In a release, Silviu Stroie, commented on the acquisition: “We are thrilled to welcome Fragnet to the PGL family. Fragnet’s expertise in game server hosting perfectly complements our vision of creating unforgettable gaming experiences. This partnership opens up new opportunities for innovation and growth in the gaming industry.

The financial aspects of the deal are undisclosed.
