Zero Tenacity shocked fans online after it announced its departure from the VALORANT esports scene ahead of Stage 3.
The organisation made a brief comeback with two stages after disbanding its VALORANT team last year. But in the end, Zero Tenacity pulled the plug again, citing a lack of ‘positive change’ in the game’s Tier 2 esports scene.
Zero Tenacy Blames State of Tier 2 VALORANT Esports For Departure
In the announcement on X, Zero Tenacity criticised the state of the Tier 2 scene in VALORANT esports as the main factor behind the organisations departure, highlighting that they ‘can not make a return’ from investments made into the game.
In the announcement, Zerto Tenacity wrote: “At this stage, we see no benefit in investing in the Tier 2 VALORANT scene. We are closing our operations within this title and we want to openly ask Riot Games to take a closer look at the tier 2 scene problems and address them accordingly.
“This is a part of a larger issue — currently, all Riot Games titles have a very poor esports system outside of the franchised leagues.”
Zero Tenacity reassured fans that they are not dismissing the possibility of returning in the future, but only when Tier 2 VALORANT fosters a ‘healthier scene.’
The organisation’s sudden exit from VALORANT comes as a shock to many who have closely followed their activity, having recently placed second in the VALORANT 2025 North East: Stage 2. With the team’s exit, it will not be competing in Stage 3.
The team also competed in VALORANT Challengers but was knocked out in the Groups Stage. Zero Tenacity isn’t the only team to exit the Tier 2 VALORANT scene, as M80 also announced the release of its Challengers roster back in May.
Zero Tenacity still retains active rosters in other Riot Games titles, such as League of Legends, and other competitive shooters such as Counter-Strike 2.
Zero Tenacity wrote: “We want to thank our players for their hard work and wish them the best of luck moving forward. We also want to thank our VALORANT fans — we will miss the watch parties we have hosted this year and all the emotions that the game has brought us.”
