EA Sports is doubling down on FC Mobile and FC Online esports with the announcement of two back-to-back in-person tournaments: FC Pro Champions Cup and FC Pro Mobile Festival.
The competitions will take place from September 9th to 15th at the Jingwu Gymnasium in the Hongkou District, Shanghai, China.
The event will begin with the FC Pro Champions Cup, which will happen from September 9th to 12th. This will take place across FC Online and FC Mobile and will only be open to players from China, South Korea and Japan.
The FC Online Champions Cup will see 12 teams competing for a share of the $300,000 (~£221,000) prize pool. Teams have been selected based on rankings and invites from the FC Pro Masters. Participants include Gen.G, Advice E-sport, NK FC Online, ADJ, DRX, SZAJ, SONIC Gaming, Team VXIS, Dplus KIA, WOL, SevenTV and Triple W.
The FC Online Champions Cup will begin with a group stage, where teams will be split into four even groups and will compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will make it to the single-elimination play-offs from September 10th to 12th.
The FC Mobile Champions Cup, on the other hand, will see six players compete for $60,000 (~£44,000), with the finals taking place on September 11th.
Last year, the FC Pro Masters took place from May 8th to 10th in South Korea. EA said in a release that it peaked at 673,000 viewers, making it the most-watched football esports event ever. The game also joined the Snapdragon Pro Series last year.
“After an impressive debut for FC Mobile and FC Online esports in 2024, we’re meeting that enthusiasm with two back-to-back events that continue to raise the stakes,” said Sam Turkbas, Senior Director, Esports Product, EA.
FC Pro Mobile Festival
The FC Pro Mobile Festival will be open to players from many more regions, including China, Korea, Southeast Asia, MENA, Brazil, Europe, the USA and more.
This two-day event on September 13th and 14th will see 10 teams, each represented by a pro and a creator, competing for the $5,000 (~£3,690) prize pool.
It will begin with a round-robin on day one followed by a single-elimination play-off on day two.
“By reaching competitors and fans of FC Mobile and FC Online alike, we’re expanding the footprint of football esports to engage new regions and support the rise of new champions,” added Turkbas.
Both tournaments will be broadcast live on the EA Sports FC Mobile YouTube channel.
