Update 07/10/2025: VALORANT Agent 29 will go live today, along with Skirmish mode, according to Riot Games.

Riot Games has officially revealed VALORANT Agent 29 named Veto during the VALORANT Champions Paris Grand Final day.

Hailing from Senegal, the new Sentinel specialises in destroying opponents’ abilities and holding them in one place. Not only this, its ultimate can also grant the agent immunity against debuffs.

Veto will be making its debut in VALORANT on October 7th, and fans can check out its abilities below:

  • Crosscut (C): Fire to place on the ground. While in range and looking at the vortex, reactivate to teleport. During the buy phase, the vortex can be reclaimed to be redeployed.
  • Interceptor (E): Fire to place at projected location. Re-use to activate. Once active, it will destroy any utility that would bounce off a player and/or be destroyed naturally by gunfire. Enemies can destroy the Interceptor.
  • Chokehold (Q): Fire to throw. Deploys on ground impact, trapping enemies who step into it. Enemies are deafened and decayed. Enemies can destroy the trap before activation.
  • Evolution (X): Instantly gain a combat stim, regeneration, and become immune to all forms of debuffs.

With Veto’s inclusion, the total number of playable agents in VALORANT has reached 28, once again raising the question of at what point Riot might consider introducing agent bans or rotation into competitive play.

Veto’s Impact on VALORANT’s Meta

At the moment, it is too early to predict if Veto will be able to secure a place in the meta, as the agent has not yet been made playable yet.

However, based purely on the gameplay trailer and ability descriptions, it seems unlikely that Veto will have a major impact, as its utilities may be destroyed easily and fitting in a composition as a sole Sentinel could be a bit difficult.

The only aspect that currently makes the agent intriguing is its ultimate, Evolution; however, there may well be counters to it that will be discovered once players get hands-on with the agent.
