It feels premium in the hand, durable enough to withstand thousands of hours of punishment without getting scuffed. 

Holes and new material aside, the biggest advantage the new Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG has over last year’s model is the inclusion of a physical DPI switch on the bottom of the mouse. By default, you have the usual five stages, which should instantly suit most preferences (ranging from 400, 800, 1,200, 1,600, and 2,000 DPI), complete with corresponding colours. 

The Corsair Web Hub is once again a way to modify your user experience; it’s simple and straightforward, without requiring any external bloatware on your gaming PC. You can save your custom DPI settings and manage your macros with a few quick clicks, so there’s no need to agonise too much between games. Having the DPI switch on the bottom means you’re far less likely to mis-input when trying to throw a Molotov in CS2 or switch weapons in VALORANT, either. 

Overall, the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG’s design is standard, except for its materials and perforated body, and that’s for the best. A responsive rubber-wrapped scroll wheel, left and right click, combined with two side buttons, is all you really need, as anything else would serve as too much of a distraction for esports. Corsair was smart to consider the needs of its primary user base, getting the foundations right at the core. 

Using the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG is effortless; without question, this is the finest esports gaming mouse I’ve ever had my hands on. It’s not necessarily going to blow anyone away with a barrage of bells and whistles, but it gets everything right as far as gaming is concerned, and that’s its primary purpose above all. 8,000Hz polling rates are nothing new; however, the Marksman S sensor and premium feel elevate it to another level. It’s not the absolute fastest DPI sensor I’ve seen on a pointer, that goes to the Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro (with a 44,000 DPI sensor), but it’s still leagues above the vast majority of the competition. 

Within a couple of minutes of deathmatching in Counter-Strike 2, I was routinely finding myself landing more headshots with the AK-47 and M4AS-1 at distance thanks to the stability and precision of the sensor. Primarily, I’ve been using the mouse in its two lowest DPI settings (400 and 800 DPI), in order to make precision shots with these rifles, score headshots with the Desert Eagle on Dust 2 and Mirage, and to better control the spray patterns of the MAC-10 and MP9 when playing CS2 ranked. 

The difference between my entry-level and mid-range gaming mice to the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG was just as notable in games where aim isn’t quite as vital, such as Halo and Marvel Rivals. Sure, you still have to point the cursor at your enemies, but there’s much more leeway in connecting to a target, whether that’s splash damage or bullet magnetism. My games with even mid-tier comic book heroes, according to the Marvel Rivals tier list, were instantly more confident, particularly when assisting to capture points as Iron Man during competitive games, or sniping from a distance with Black Widow. 

The Sabre v2 Pro was the first Corsair mouse with an 8,000Hz polling rate and a lightweight construction. The new Sabre v2 Pro MG has taken everything that worked with it, the same 33K DPI sensor and commitment to no-frills esports utility, and dialled things up. The new magnesium alloy body, vastly improved battery life, and quality of life improvements, such as Bluetooth and a dedicated DPI button on the rear, make this a worthwhile improvement across the board. 

Without the confines of its predecessor, though, the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro MG is easily a contender for the best gaming mouse for esports on the market today, and a testament to the company’s commitment to the competitive scene. It doesn’t come cheap, and some may be swayed by its pricier (and more traditional) carbon fibre-wrapped version, but if you’re after a powerful pointer for pro play, this one is hard to beat.
