Amuka Esports has announced the acquisition of Waves E-Gaming, “Canada’s largest esports and gaming venue.”
Amuka Esports, which creates localised esports hubs for casual gamers across North America, has acquired a 100 percent interest in Waves E-Gaming Inc.

Waves E-Gaming is over 14,000 sq. ft and has over 100 PC and console game stations at its facility, which is on the border between Toronto and Vaughan in Ontario, Canada. It claims to be “the first dedicated esports facility in Canada” and provides space for socialising, streaming, and event hosting.
Ben Feferman, CEO of Amuka Esports, spoke on the development in a release: “Esports is all about community. We’ve built several great brands that are driving tremendous value, but we needed a physical space to bring them all together. Waves will not only be the new headquarters for our company but will serve as the community headquarters for Canadian gamers.”
Waves E-Gaming co-founder Khaled Sherif will take on the new role of Chief Operating Officer at Amuka Esports, where he’ll aim to develop synergies with other assets in the company’s portfolio, including Organized Gaming, Level Six, Mount Phenom, and an unannounced tournament team.

Ahmad Al Jamal, Co-founder of Waves E-Gaming, also commented on the deal: “It’s been amazing what we’ve been able to build in just one short year. We are very excited about some big changes coming to the facility like a new restaurant, a bar, and more production space. This will be Waves 2.0 and these upgrades will really make this a world-class facility.”
Waves E-Gaming raised almost $1 million (£761,175) through undisclosed investors in late 2018 to develop its venue.
Esports Insider says: Esports facilities are rising in popularity across North America, following a long period of success for gaming arenas run throughout Asia. With its investment in several complimentary esports verticals, Amuka Esports seem well-placed to capitalise on the demand after the acquisition of Waves E-Gaming.
