North American organisation Evil Geniuses has partnered with telecom brand Motorola for the upcoming LCS Summer Split.

Throughout the LCS Summer Split, which begins June 12th, Evil Geniuses will showcase the Motorola Edge+ smartphone and its features during custom content and in-depth analysis of plays through the season. In addition, Motorola will be the inaugural and presenting sponsor of Evil Geniuses’ bi-weekly LCS-themed podcast ‘Chaotic Neutral.’

Majo Martin, NA Marketing Director at Motorola, commented on the partnership in a release: “The Motorola Edge+ is the start of the next generation of smartphones, packed with dedicated features that emphasize getting the most out of your games. Partnering with Evil Geniuses aligns two elite brands with a commitment to excellence, and is an important step in showcasing the awesome power of the Edge+ to the gaming community.”

Last month, Evil Geniuses unveiled the ‘final phase’ of its rebrand that more closely resembled the original brand identity it had once had, as well as a partnership with LG UltraGear.

Nicole LaPointe Jameson, CEO of Evil Geniuses, also remarked: “Motorola is an iconic global brand that matches Evil Geniuses’ passion for innovation and performance. In our ongoing pursuit to support our players, it’s important that they have the best gear both on and off the stage to maintain competitive excellence.”

Esports Insider says: Motorola’s partnership with Evil Geniuses marks another example of major telecom participation in the esports industry, particularly as 5G becomes more widespread. The move is not terribly surprising, however, as Motorola is a subsidiary of Lenovo Brand Ltd. — as is Lenovo Legion, which has partnered with several brands including Team SoloMid (TSM) and the Apex Legends Global Series.
