Sportswear brand Kappa has officially announced a two year partnership with Swiss esports organisation Team BDS.
The collaboration will see the two entities join forces to create performance and lifestyle apparel that they claim will combine the fashion world with esports.
Official co-branded jerseys can be bought on Team BDS’ website for €70 (~£60) for the short-sleeve version while the long-sleeve jersey is priced at €80 (~£69). Fans can also customise apparel with personal nicknames and the LEC logo at an extra €10 and €5 respectively.
This is the second apparel brand Team BDS worked with this year, following a merchandise collection with the apparel brand Champion. The distinction is that Kappa has become the official equipment supplier, forging a lengthier partnership with the esports organisation.
Kappa is not a new player when it comes to working with esports organisation, as it first partnered up with Vexed Gaming in 2019. The following year, Chinese organisation Royal Never Give Up (RNG) entered into a Dota 2-specific partnership with Kappa and it also increased its esports presence by working with several esports teams, including MAD Lions, London Esports, and Tundra.
The sportswear brand joins a growing list of partners for Team BDS, which recently also renewed its collaboration with French football club Olympique de Marseille (OM). Other notable brands include the likes of gaming hardware brand Logitech G, Swiss Web3 esports organisation XBorg, sporting retailer INTERSPORT, and gaming moderation solutions company Bodyguard.ai.
Jocelyn Roux, Managing Director at Team BDS, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with such an iconic brand as Kappa. Their commitment to quality and style aligns perfectly with our DNA.
“This collaboration will allow our players and fans to proudly represent Team BDS, whether on or off the virtual gaming field. This partnership combines Kappa’s distinctive style with the strength and determination of Team BDS, creating a perfect fusion of fashion and gaming.”
