ESI London 2024 is the first edition of the renowned UK-based esports industry event to operate under a one-day format.

There’s a lot of content to pack into one day, so we’ve put together a guide on what’s going on within the Content Box — our dedicated second stage at ESI London 2024 for workshops and focused discussions. Find the full agenda for the Content Box (and Main Stage) here.

Are esports qualifications transferable enough?

First up, we have an open-to-all, education-focused workshop on esports qualifications. Esports degrees, courses and other qualifications have proliferated in the last few years as educational institutions have started to leverage esports and gaming to teach soft and hard skills, as well as equip people to work in the esports industry.

However, the onset of the esports winter and widespread layoffs in 2023 and 2024 have raised concerns about whether there are enough opportunities for those studying esports. Whether at university or at school, industry-focused or academic, are the courses available to students transferable enough to other walks of life? How can we ensure esports students are getting the most out of the courses, wherever they might end up?

Sign up here to join the following speakers for a frank and productive discussion on the subject in the Content Box, starting at 11:10am.

  • Jackson Armstrong – Director of Business Development – Access Creative College
  • James Fraser-Murison – Director – Fraser Esports
  • Andrew Chapman – Burnley College
  • Grant Rousseau – Global Director of Esports and Operations – Team Falcons

Play For Tomorrow: UNICEF’s new quest

UNICEF, the United Nations’ humanitarian organisation for children, is on a new quest: leverage its reputation and brand trust to provide a safe choice as a go-to charity for esports and gaming fundraising efforts.

To that end, UNICEF is running a workshop to unveil its brand new campaign: Play for Tomorrow. The new initiative that will leverage the universal language of gaming to support children worldwide.

UNICEF is offering the opportunity for esports and gaming stakeholders to get in on the ground floor, and partner with one of the world’s most recognisable organisations to do good — and mutually benefit at the same time.

Those interested in learning more or getting involved in the workshop, which takes place at 3pm, can sign up here.
