Activision has finally confirmed the location for its Call of Duty World Series of Warzone 2025 event.
The tentpole event for the publisher’s free-to-play battle royale title will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, for a second consecutive year.
The host city is the latest element of the tournament to be revealed, after Activision shared details of the prize pool breakdown in late July. Teams from across the world will compete for a share of $1m (~£745,559).
While the city has been confirmed, Call of Duty’s publisher has yet to announce an exact location for the event taking place on October 1st.
This year’s edition of the World Series of Warzone has received criticism from players competing and fans. In July, it was announced that the event will not feature any spectators, a change from the last two tournaments, which have both featured fans in attendance.
The event takes place a day after Call of Duty: NEXT, Activision’s annual showcase of its upcoming Call of Duty title. 2025 will see the publisher and Treyarch showcase Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s multiplayer and Zombies modes ahead of the title’s November 14th release.
The Future Of Warzone Esports
Once the World Series of Warzone has concluded, it remains to be seen if Activision will continue hosting sanctioned esports events for the battle royale.
The 2023 Global Finals is the second most-watched event in Warzone history, peaking at 382,483 viewers. More recently, the title’s appearance at the Esports World Cup also broke 300,000 viewers, demonstrating its viability for Activision and third-party organisers to host events.
With negativity surrounding a lack of spectators, it will be interesting to see if the 2025 Global Finals can continue Warzone’s upward trajectory and cement itself as one of the top battle royale esports titles.
