Crypto casino Roobet has announced OpTic streamer Seth ‘Scump’ Abner and Founder Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez as its latest partners.
Following yesterday’s announcement, Scump and H3CZ hosted a collaborative gambling live-stream with 100 Thieves Founder Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag.
H3CZ founded OpTic Gaming in 2006, which currently owns the OpTic Texas Call of Duty League franchise as well as a Halo roster. After selling OpTic in 2017, Rodriguez reacquired the brand three years later and reprised the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2022.
Last month, H3CZ also hosted a $20,000 (~£15,030) tournament, called the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
Former professional Call of Duty (CoD) player Scump first joined OpTic Gaming in 2011 and later returned to the organisation, which he continues to represent as a streamer.
Last year, Scump and H3CZ made waves in the esports industry with their $680m (~£540m) lawsuit against CoD publisher Activision Blizzard over the company’s alleged monopoly in the CoD League. As of today, the lawsuit remains ongoing.
Crypto casino Roobet was founded in 2018 and has since collaborated with numerous streaming and gaming personalities. Moreover, the company has hosted its own esports tournaments in the past.
“Tables have never been hotter. Going live with my first stream with Hector and Matt live on kick NOW,” shared Scump on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account yesterday.
The Rise of Gambling in Esports
Albeit controversial, casino and crypto partnerships have gained significant popularity among esports stakeholders in recent years. Most recent examples include GamerLegion’s deal with online casino LEON.Bet and NIP Group’s expansion into Bitcoin mining operations.
While such collaborations have been common in other esports titles, such as Counter-Strike, publisher Riot Games permitted gambling and betting sponsors for League of Legends and VALORANT teams for the first time this year.
