MOONTON has unveiled the eight teams that will be part of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Malaysia as it shifts to a partnership model in 2026.
The longest-running esports league in Malaysia is set to join MPL Philippines and Indonesia with a fixed set of teams set to compete in the league.
However, unlike MPL Philippines and Indonesia, which operate under fully franchised systems, MPL Malaysia will have a new ‘partnership programme.’
MOONTON has not revealed the precise differences between both. However, Krystal Tan, Head of Business Development for Malaysia Esports at MOONTON Games, shared that the eight teams were “selected” with the “long-term growth of Malaysian esports at heart.”
This signifies a distinction from MPL Philippines and Indonesia, where teams had to pay a buy-in fee.
The eight teams set to compete in Mobile Legends Professional League Malaysia are as follows:
- Selangor Red Giants (SRG)
- Team Vamos (VMS)
- Team Rey (TR)
- Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ)
- Bigetron MY by VIT (BTRM)
- All Combo (AC)
- Invictus Gaming (iG)
- Team Flash (TF)
“The Partnership Programme is a pioneering move that goes beyond MPL Malaysia,” said Tan in the press release.
“By bringing together local and international teams to compete on home soil, we are not just raising the competitive bar, but shaping a stronger league that places Malaysia firmly on the global esports map—one that inspires the next generation of players and that our fans can continue to be proud of.”
MOONTON had said in April 2025 that it intended to shift MPL Malaysia to a franchised model. The company confirmed this development in September of last year.
MPL Malaysia To Feature Local and International Esports Orgs
Among the eight, SRG, Team Vamos, and Team Rey are local Malaysian esports organisations that have been competing in the league since before.
RRQ and Bigetron are both MPL Indonesia organisations that will now own second teams in Malaysia.
Invictus Gaming, a popular Chinese esports organisation, will also represent its second team. It has been competing in China’s MLBB esports scene since 2025.
Team Flash is a Singapore-based esports organisation, which has been active in MLBB since 2018 and has also competed in MPL Singapore since Season 2.
The team has won MPL SG four times; however, it announced its departure from the league earlier today and has now joined Malaysia.
The partnered MPL Malaysia Season 17 will begin in March, with the exact schedule and format to be announced at a later date.
