British esports organisation Fourth Wall Esports has secured a partnership with Staffordshire University that will see the institution become Fourth Wall’s official educational partner.
As a part of the deal, Staffordshire University students will get access to workshops from Fourth Wall staff. Moreover, students will also get a chance to go on paid internships, as well as better understand the real workings behind esports teams.
Fourth Wall Esports is possibly the youngest professional esports organisation in Britain right now, having been founded in late January 2023 by former X7 Esports staff members Alfie Wright, Tony ‘Newts’ Newton, Robin ‘Robinho’ Cheng and Nile ‘Oldboy’ Lynch. The organisation is a rebrand of London Esports, an organisation that was acquired by X7 in 2022, but has been dormant until this year. Fourth Wall’s League of Legends team will play in the NLC 2nd Division in 2023.
On the other hand, Staffordshire University was the first university to launch an esports degree programme in the UK, founded in 2018. Alfie Wright, the CEO of Fourth Wall Esports, noted that he has been involved with the University for a few years, helping students with advice and sharing knowledge.
Wright added: “Hearing that the university wanted to directly work with us to create opportunities for the students was music to my ears. I’m excited to deliver a one-of-a-kind partnership focusing on the development of the students.”
Laura-Jane Filotrani, Associate Dean at Staffordshire University London, commented: “We’re very excited to team up with Fourth Wall Esports Club. Staffordshire University has developed a stimulating creative learning environment that prepares our graduates to become trailblazers in esports and creative technologies.
“As part of this partnership, our students will get the opportunity to be involved in paid internships at Fourth Wall and we look forward to seeing how this partnership evolves.”
