The UK Esports Team Committee (UKETC) has unveiled British esports organisation Into The Breach as its latest member.
In addition, the UKETC has also confirmed the removal of two existing members following a relocation and a period of inactivity.
As a result of Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise London Royal Ravens rebranding to the Carolina Royal Ravens, it has been removed from the UKETC. Alongside the franchise, UK-based organisation LDN UTD has also been removed from the commission due to a ‘lengthy period of inactivity.’
Into The Breach becomes the 12th member of the committee. The organisation has quickly grown into one of the most prominent UK esports organisations following success at the BLAST.tv Paris Major which took place in May 2023.
Following the departure of the Carolina Royal Ravens, esports industry veteran and Dignitas Founder Michael O’Dell will continue working with the UKETC in an advisory role alongside his position as Director of Pro Gaming and Esports at SCAN Computers.
Founded in July 2021, the UKETC aims to professionalise and develop the esports industry in the UK. One of its main goals is to have esports recognised at a government level. The UKETC is said to have been in discussions with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) representatives over the past year.
LDN UTD and Carolina Royal Ravens join London Spitfire and The Goose House, albeit very briefly, as former members of the UKETC. Last month, Into the Breach secured part-ownership of The Goose House.
Daniel Chung, Chair of the UKETC, spoke on the changes: “Into the Breach’s (ITB) meteoric rise over the past year has not gone unnoticed here at the UKETC.
“As a relatively new player in the industry, ITB’s will be able to bring fresh perspectives and value to the discussions at the UKETC to uplift UK esports.”
