The Asian Esports Games, a multi-title regional esports competition, has recorded peak viewing figures of over 500,000 across two events in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event was announced as the exclusive women’s esports title for the Asian Esports Games.
Organised by the Thailand Esports Federation, the competition garnered peak viewing figures of 326,125 alongside an average of 43,670 across its 18-hour airtime, according to esports data platform Esports Charts.
In terms of peak viewership, Asian Esports Games’ MLBB competition was the title’s most popular women’s event this year. Below that was the MLBB Women’s Invitational 2024 which recorded 265,117 viewers.
In the end, Indonesia walked out of the Asian Esports Games MLBB competition victorious by beating the Philippines in the finals.
The highest recorded peak viewership for a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament this year remains 2024’s MPL Indonesia Season 14, topping the charts with a peak viewership of 4m. However, the game has yet to conclude its season-ending event, the M6 World Championship
The Asian Esports Games’ Arena of Valor tournament became the title’s seventh most-watched event of 2024 with a peak viewership of 181,444 and an average of 37,230. Two of the top five most-watched matches managed to reach over 100,000 viewers. Ultimately, the event was won by Thailand with Vietnam placing second.
Throughout 2024, Arena of Valor’s viewing figures have continued to climb. The most-watched event of the year is the Arena of Valor Premier League which recorded 713,507 peak viewers. This year alone, three events managed to achieve a peak of more than 500,000.
eFootball was also included at this year’s Asian Esports Games, however, viewing figures have not yet been recorded by Esports Charts.
In recent years, Asia has hosted a range of regional esports tournaments across several titles. In July, the Olympic Council of Asia announced a task force to select games that will feature in the 2026 edition of the Asian Games. In 2025, the International Olympic Committee will host the inaugural Olympic Esports Games in Saudi Arabia.
