The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Women’s Invitational was a win for both Team Vitality and the event, as the competition culminated with a peak viewership of over 490,000.
The event, which took place as part of the 2025 Esports World Cup, became the second most popular women’s esports event of all time, smashing last year’s viewership numbers according to Esports Charts.
How Popular Was the Women’s Invitational 2025?
The $500,000 (~£371,732) Women’s Invitational event attracted strong, consistent viewership numbers. Across an air time of over 34 hours, it saw an average viewership of over 109,000, and accumulated 3.7m hours of watch time.
Its viewership peaked at nearly 496,000 during the Gaimin Gladiators and Team Vitality Playoffs Finals. This is followed by the semi-final match between Gaimin Gladiators and Terror Queens, which garnered over 275,000 views, and Team Vitality’s match against Team Liquid, which had over 274,000 views.
Team Vitality and Gaimin Gladiators proved to be amongst the most popular teams during the tournament, with both organisations boasting 1.3m hours of total watch time. This was followed by Terror Queens’ 1m hours of watch time, and Team Liquid with just over 931,000 hours.
Which Platform Had the Most Views?
What’s also worth noting is the viewership distribution. When it comes to language, English-speaking channels were only the fourth most popular, with a peak viewership of over 48,000. Third belonged to Bahasa Malaysia, with nearly 60,000 views. Burmese took second at nearly 88,000, and Indonesian was the most popular language by a landslide at over 285,000 peak viewers.
The tournament was broadcast across multiple platforms, including YouTube and Twitch. YouTube saw over 9.8m views in total, with 182,000 likes. On the other hand, over 49 Twitch channels broadcast the stream, with nearly 303,000 views in total.
When it comes to peak viewers, YouTube narrowly takes the top spot with a peak of nearly 224,000, closely followed by TikTok Live at over 220,000. Bigo Live takes third place with a peak of nearly 28,000, followed by Twitch at over 4,000.
How the Women’s Invitational Compares to Other Events
The MLBB Women’s Invitational 2025 currently stands as the second most popular female event in terms of peak viewers and hours watched. The top event was the 32nd SEA Games Women’s tournament, also in MLBB, which attracted a peak viewership of over 1.3m users.
The highest non-MLBB women’s esports event, VALORANT’s VCT 2024 Game Changes Championship, is the third most popular event on this list. The competition generated 464,000 peak viewers and over 6.3m watched hours.
Mobile Legends’ Women’s Invitational has certainly gone above and beyond last year’s event, which saw a peak viewership of over 265,000, and an average of over 74,000.
Based on this, the MLBB Women’s Invitational at the 2025 Esports World Cup can be considered a success. This is a clear indicator that women’s esports within the MLBB scene is not only continuing to develop, but gaining more popularity among esports fans.
