North American organisation Sentinels has announced that it is pausing its Marvel Rival esports operations.

The announcement follows a mixed year of results for the team, which includes failing to qualify for the Ignite Grand Finals in DreamHack Atlanta.

In the statement online, Sentinels said: “Today we are announcing that we will be pausing our operations in Marvel Rivals.

“We couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished in the last year. Together, we built something special, leaving our mark on the early history of the game. If and when NetEase roll out a program with team incentives, we would revisit the decision”

Sentinels added that it has parted ways with its Marvel Rivals roster, resulting in several players announcing that they are in search of new opportunities within the scene.

“My heart breaks with Sentinel’s decision to leave Marvel Rivals Esports,” said Chassidy ‘aramori‘ Kaye, former Strategist player for Sentinels.

“But truthfully, I can’t blame them. The scene is essentially a money sink until any sort of monetary incentive is added for teams. Hopefully, NetEase will drop some new info soon.”

Sentinels’ Journey in Marvel Rivals

Sentinels quickly became one of the most well-known organisations in the scene since its debut earlier this year. Throughout 2025, it has experienced a mix of victories and defeats in esports.

One of its earliest victories was winning the Season 1 Championships after achieving a landslide 4-0 win in the Grand Finals against 100 Thieves.

The greatest highlight for the organisation was becoming the Ignite Stage 1 Americas champions after defeating 100 Thieves in the Grand Finals. It qualified for the Mid-Season Finals, but saw an early elimination at the hands of Citadel Gaming in the Lower Brackets.

Sentinels weren’t as fortunate in Ignite Stage 2. It placed sixth out of 16 teams after losing to DarkZero in the Lower Brackets, missing out on the Ignite Grand Finals.
