European esports organisation G2 Esports has announced the appointment of Irina Shames as its new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Philippe Adam as Financial Director.
Additionally, former General Manager Alban Dechelotte has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
As Chief Revenue Officer, Shames will be responsible for all aspects of global commercial growth at G2 Esports, with a heavy focus on the organisation’s expansion in North America. She’ll also focus on the monetisation of gaming and esports, which the organisation describes as its key entertainment pillars.
Shames brings extensive content, media, entertainment and revenue-growth experience from a variety of posts at media conglomerates, such as Viacom and CNN International. She most recently worked for gaming entertainment company 3BLACKDOT.
Joining the company as Financial Director, Adam will lead G2’s Controlling, Finance, HR & Legal teams, which are responsible for directing financial strategy, planning and analysis for the company.
Prior to joining G2 Esports, Adam was an investment professional at Oak Hill Capital Partners and Deva Capital in New York City. He has worked closely with the senior management of his firms’ portfolio companies to implement and deliver strategic, financial, acquisitive and operating initiatives.
The two new hires are supported by the internal promotion of Dechelotte — previously G2’s General Manager — to COO. In his new role, the organisation said Dechelotte will work closely with G2 CEO Carlos Rodriguez. Alban will be responsible for leading G2’s operations as the company shapes up for further expansion and growth.
In March this year, G2 hired a new Head of Content and Head of Media as the esports organisation looks to diversify into other entertainment offerings.
G2 CEO Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez commented: “I am super proud to have Irina and Philippe join the business and delighted that Alban will be stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer.
“Irina, Philippe and Alban will now form what I consider the most impressive management team out there in the world of esports. I’m both humbled and thrilled that they chose to deploy their trust in me and G2.”
G2 currently counts Ralph Lauren, adidas, BMW, Twitch, Pringles and Mastercard, amongst others, as commercial partners.
