Esports bookmaker Rivalry has appointed Grant Flannery as its Global Head of Marketing.
Prior to joining Rivalry, Flannery was a VP of Brand Strategy at creative consultancy Huge and has worked on campaigns for companies like PlayStation, DraftKings and Harley-Davidson.
At the sportsbook, Flannery will oversee the company’s marketing efforts globally. Moreover, he will look to further integrate the marketing department with Rivalry’s product, sportsbook, data and CRM.
Since its launch in 2016, Rivalry has gone on to become one of the biggest endemic esports bookmakers in the ecosystem. Despite posting a CAD $6.3m (~£3.67m) Q2 2023 loss, the company is optimistic that it will reach profitability in H1 2024.
This year has also seen Rivalry expand its presence, both within the competitive esports ecosystem and across betting jurisdictions. This includes launching an esports betting mobile app in Ontario as well as securing partnerships with Brazilian content group Tribo, Red Canids and Grayhound Gaming.
Rivalry is also known for its unique marketing activations, one of which notably included sending a chicken mascot to major CS:GO events this year.
Via LinkedIn, Steven Salz, Co-Founder & CEO at Rivalry, commented on the appointment: “Very excited to welcome Grant Flannery as Global Head of Marketing at Rivalry.com. As we continue to expand geographically and the brands global presence evolves, adding more talent to the team is critical.
“I’m confident Grant’s diverse background will allow us to further supercharge our very bespoke marketing and creative approach at Rivalry.”
